Life with twins = BUSY!

Busy but fun! As you can tell, there's just not as much time to blog with two new babies living in the Clardy house. And Don got back Wednesday night from being out of town for a week so that made things even crazier. But, we are doing well and have even ventured out to Target several times and to the mall this week. Although, we almost didn't make the mall trip because Max decided to stick a small Lego piece up his nose. But, thanks to him doing this last year, I knew what to do...just closed his other nostril (the one with no Lego) and blew in his mouth and the Lego came shooting out. A pretty funny sight!

The twins were 5 weeks this past Tuesday and they are getting SO CUTE! Abe has recently starting cooing a little and it is so sweet. He is getting huge and feels like a sack of bricks when you pick him up. Lane is still so feminine (except when it comes to her grunting and loud burping) and loves to look around and check everything out. They're eating every 3 hours and are going 3-4 hours at night - any tips on getting them sleeping 5-6 hours at night would be greatly appreciated! :) But with having Susan's help (the lady who is helping us out at night) I am getting a lot more sleep than most new moms and boy am I so thankful for that!

Anyway, I'm rambling...here are some pictures. Check out these adorable onesies and burp clothes that Hannah (HPS) sent the babies...how cute are they!My friends, Rebecca and Christine, came by and brought a great meal. Christine is pregnant and due in September. Her husband is a pediatrician - how lucky is she? Just think, she gets to live with her pediatrician and can ask him anything about her baby whenever she has concerns - she's going to save a lot of money on doctor's visits! Oh, and speaking of meals, our church and friends have been awesome! We have gotten 3 meals (sometimes 4) every week since the babies were born and we still have one more week left...unbelievable! Let me just say that Don has never had this many home cooked meals in all of our married life!A few out of town visitors came last week. My friend Cheri and her daughter Emma Grace came up from Atlanta. Her little boy, Harrison, and Max are just several months apart in age and they had a great time playing with their Lego's and Transformers. Oh, and let's not forget my sister Shari from Texas...the other June 16 birthday girl!!!My niece, Erica, giving Abe a bottle. Lily loved Erica...or was it Erica's iPhone that she really loved???Clay's 7th birthday was this past Saturday and we celebrated at Mom and Dad's house with a SpongeBob and Star Wars party.Max wanted to do his "mean face" for the camera.Aunt Shari with the babies. She was also here this past weekend to help plan her 30 year high school reunion...seriously, is that possible?Hey Lane, want to give Abe some room?Payback!Perfection!Max getting in on the fun!Max wanted me to take a picture of his Transformer. This kid has moved on from trains...Transformers are his new obsession! You can see the size difference between the two...Abe on the left and Lane on the right. These last two pictures were taken yesterday right before we ventured out to McAlisters to get our free tea...couldn't miss that big event!

Bath time!

Just gave Abe and Lane baths today...how cute are they! Abe loves getting a bath and Lane, well, not so much. But boy do they sure smell scrumptious!

Abe and those big eyes...so sweet.Lane feeling very relaxed!Max takes after his mama and loves chocolate...can you tell? Oh, with all the craziness around our house we have lost Max's glasses. So, we just picked out a new pair and should have them in a week. We'll debut them as soon as we can! Here's the stud who turned 40 this past week! Unfortunately, we weren't able to have a big blowout because of the babies, but we did go over my parent's house for dinner. Don's dad and my sister-in-law and nephews were in town too, but I failed to get pictures of them...must have been feeding, burping, or changing a baby.My friend, Melissa, came to see the babies. I'm thinking of a possible love connection between her Will and Lane...you never know! At some point I need to do a post about all of the visitors who have come to meet the babies. Although I've missed a few, I've been trying to get pictures of everyone who has come to visit. I'll get to work on that...Max and his Lite Brite. I bought this before the babies were born and thought it would be good for Max to play with when I wasn't able to play with him. Unfortunately, those little pegs are showing up everywhere around the house...UGH!
Okay, question for you...has anyone out there used Similac Sensitive formula? We just switched over because the babies have a lot of gas (Don says they take after me - not funny) and they cry like they're in pain when they do have the gas. So, we thought we would give the Sensitive a try. Just wondering if it worked for any of you???

We're still here!

A little late, but Happy 4th of July! Things are going MUCH better the past few days. I think the first post I did made it sound like things were easy as pie, but let me tell you they weren't and aren't when you're caring for two newborns. But, the babies are getting on a 3 hour schedule and that's helping me and them a lot. We've also switched over from breastfeeding to bottle feeding them formula. I won't go into all the details but trust me...it's changed things for us for the better in a BIG way!

We took them to the doctor this past Thursday and Abe is up to 8 lbs, 12 oz and Lane is 7 lbs 6 oz so they are gaining weight. The doctor did find heart murmurs in both of them and we are being referred to a local cardiologist for echocardiograms. Our doctor is not worried at all, but just wants to watch them and hopefully they'll go away as they get older.

I have had a horrible headache ever since I came home from the hospital so I finally went to my doctor this past Thursday. Come to find out, I have developed postpartum preeclampsia which is basically high blood pressure after you deliver a baby (more common in multiple births). Mine was 180/100 this past Thursday but it's slowly coming down thanks to medicine I'm now taking. They think it should go away within 4-6 weeks.

So, that's about it for now...enjoy pictures of our cute babies! The first 4 pictures are from yesterday and their outfits were picked out by Max...courtesy of Walmart...not bad, Max, not bad!

Abe - his eyes have been wide open since the second he was born! He loves to look around after he's done eating although we don't know exactly what he's seeing. His nickname is Benjamin Button because we think he looks like a little old man. :)But, those wrinkles are starting to fill out because this boy downs 4 oz every feeding. My sweet girl, Lane. Let me just say that you can already tell she is all girl! Her mannerisms are so girly and she's so calm and relaxed. She constantly has one of her hands resting on her face. This is how we find them a lot during their naps. How sweet is this! See the little stuffed animals with the pacis attached? They LOVE these and have helped so much in them going to sleep. They're called WubbaNubs and are great! My friend, Sally, holding Lane.Max, his buddy Mitchell, and cousin ClayAunt Rea with the babiesPretty Lane with her high waisted pants.Another nap pictureMax holding his little brother, Abe.Max and his girlfriend, Faith, holding the babies.Mommy loves these outfits! Thanks Angela...they look adorable in them!Aunt Rea and cousin Lily...Lily LOVES these babies!Check out these adorable outfits courtesy of Mrs. Donna Graham...how cute are they?!?! I put these on for them to wear out to Target and I barely got the picture taken before Abe wet through his...something he does ALL the time! But, Lane wore hers and it looked adorable! Thanks Donna! Here's the big brother with his brother and sister!Well, that's it for now. Hope everyone has a great week! My father-in-law and my brother and his family are all in town this week so the babies and Max will be fully entertained. Oh, and some stud muffin I know turns 40 this week too!!!

Pictures - Tuesday, June 16

I've finally uploaded my pictures, but there are so many that I thought I would just start with the day the twins were born, June 16. Hopefully, I'll be able to get more recent ones up in the next day or so.

Lane and Abe are doing well and are somewhat falling into a routine. They eat every 3 to 3 1/2 hours and once we finally get them down they sleep really well. I'm also getting a little more sleep the past few days which is nice although I think it's going to take my body a long time to catch up on 9 months of very little sleep! I'll update more in another post, but wanted to go ahead and get some pictures out here so I don't get too far behind. Hope everyone is doing well!

I don't even want to know what those doctors are doing to me behind the sheet. My parents and Andrea the first time they saw the babies. They actually brought the babies back with me to the recovery room instead of the baby nursery. Apparently, this is something new. Lane is on the left and Abe on the right. Home

Hi everyone!

We brought Lane and Abe home on Saturday afternoon and everyone seems to be doing well. Life with two newborns is, let's just say, very physically and mentally exhausting but we love our babies and we will survive. :) Lane and Abe love to eat, sleep, poop, and then eat again. The feeding thing is going so-so. I've had a few issues, but we're trying to work through those. Don, my mom, and my sister have been HUGE helps and I couldn't have made it through these first few days without them. And the lady who's been helping us at night since Saturday night has also been very helpful.

I haven't had time to download any pictures, but I will try to do that soon. The babies are asleep right now so I've got to get off the computer and lay down for a few minutes...this mama is tired right now! :)
