Sniff Sniff :(

My sweet baby boy started K-5 yesterday. Where has the time gone because it sure seems like yesterday he was this little... And now look at him with his Transformer backpack...too cool for school!Max is going to kindergarten at our church's school. He went there last year for K-4 so it doesn't seem like such a huge transition for him or us, but a big milestone in his life for sure! There are 4 boys and 9 girls in his class and Mrs. Haynes is his teacher.

First things first...we have to eat our very nutritious breakfast! Max with mommy and daddyAunt Rea came over to stay with the babies while I took him to school and she brought him TWO new Transformers in celebration of his 1st day of K-5!
Walking in with daddyMax and Mrs. Haynes. This picture was actually taken at Open House on Monday night. He had to find his basket and put his folder in it...Then he had to hang up his backpack...And then he found his seat and Mrs. Haynes gave him some instructions...And this is how we left him...writing his name with a big, fat pencil!
Two quick stories...when I picked him up yesterday afternoon I asked him if he missed me and he said yes. So I asked him why he missed me and he said "because I wanted to go home and play with my Transformers." Then last night I laid down in bed with him for awhile. I told him that I sure was glad that Jesus gave him to me and he replied "I sure am glad Rea gave me my two Transformers." Does this boy have a one track mind or what???

on August 25, 2001!

Happy Anniversary Don...I love you! What a ride the past 8 years have been and I'm glad I've been on it with you!

P.S. The night we got engaged! I was living in TX and house sitting for my sister while they were out of town. Don surprised me by flying down from Greenville and showing up at my sister's door. I was so shocked I just stood there at the glass door repeatedly saying "What are you doing here?" He held up the ring and finally had to ask me if he could come in. Good memory!

sorry...can't think of a title

I don't have much time, so I'm just going to post some pictures. I promise I'm going to get better at blogging - posting and commenting. Like another new mom said this weekend, I feel like I now live my life in 3 hour cycles. Unfortunately, in those 3 hours I have very little time to just do whatever I want. And I'll be honest with you, trying to come up with a blog post seems to require more brain power than I have right now. But, it's really just pictures of the babies most people want to see...not my useless chatter!

My sweet Abe. He is such a happy baby. Well, except when you start to put him in the crib. It's actually funny because as I'm walking to the crib he'll start to whimper. He cries for awhile when I put him down, but then usually sleeps pretty well after that. And here's my sweet Lane dressed up for the first time in a skirt. She's beginning to smile more and make noises, but she definitely makes you work hard for them! She's also starting to fill out and get a little chubby like her brother, Abe.Our friends, Jamie and Christine, were so nice to bring us dinner on Saturday night. They have two boys, Zeke and Gabe, who are so adorable and sweet. Jamie with LaneAnd Christine with AbeHere are the twins with Gabe who is almost exactly one year older than them. That child is always smiling and just plain adorable. Although, he sure didn't like his mama holding another baby! Here's me with the kiddos before church. Sunday was our first day back and I was pretty much worn out by the time we got there. It's hard work getting 3 kids ready by 8:30, but we did it and actually made it there on time! And Max lost one of his top front teeth! The tooth fairy around here use to bring him a Thomas train, but she obviously knows that he now likes Transformers because that's what he got.And last week the girls in my Sunday school class had a little shower for my friend, Brentley. We met at a restaurant in downtown Greenville and had a great time. I was definitely "Chatty Cathy" because I hadn't been out like that in a long time. It was so nice to be out with some great gals!See, look how crazy I was getting that night...rabbit ears over Brenda's head...I was out of control!Okay, that's it for now. Shocker - I hear one of the babies in the monitor... :)

Nice break at the lake!

Ahhhhhhh...so nice! My mom and sister were so nice to offer to keep the babies yesterday so that Don, Max and I could head to the lake with some friends. It was a gorgeous (but HOT) day and we had so much fun!

Max was so sleepy riding on the boat...sweet boy.Max and daddy!Taking off from the dock...ooops, we left Don and Nate! How beautiful is Jana and Todd's lake house? It's on Lake Keowee which is a great lake with gorgeous mountain views!Brentley, Shaler and baby girl Reeves who will make her debut in September and we can't wait!Jana who took THESE pictures of the twins. I always get low camera self esteem when she pulls this mack daddy out!We happened upon these studs hanging out in the lake!Jana and Daphne...yes, there are two Jana's. This is Jana F. (on the left) and Jana C. is the photo gal.Jana C's husband, Kyle, and their adorable son, Bennett. Check out his WubbaNub - Abe has the same one!Still in the boat trance...Daphne and Shaler tubingJana C and her Cheerwine...a Southern thing I think although yesterday was the first time I ever tasted it.Me (the pasty white girl), Jana C, Brentley and Jana F
Trying to be sexy...Still trying...not very successful...at least I wasn't!Jana C getting ready to do some trick skiing...and she's UP!Can you tell the lake wore this boy out?Had to throw this one in...Max in his T-ball shirt. This is the way he wore his hat the entire time...YO YO YO WHAT UP??

7 weeks old today!

I remember thinking when we first got home that August sounded so far away and now it's here. Of course, as most moms of newborns know, those first few weeks at home DRAG and seem like they last forever, don't they? But, we've made it and everyone seems to be doing well.

I had my 6 week checkup last week so I took the babies in so I could show them off. Here's Dr. Troutman who delivered the twins and who also delivered Max. He's a wonderful doctor (who's very tall as you can tell) and took great care of us. Oh, and he's pretty darn funny which is always a plus in my book.Another photo shoot on the chair. This picture is hilarious to me!Another nap picture. By the way, I've just started putting them in different cribs during the day because they keep running into each other and it will sometimes make them mad. I really didn't think I would have to do it this early, but I'll do anything to get them to sleep longer! Please look at Abe's chunky legs...love them! He is so chubby and sweet and is really starting to smile a lot. Oh, and check out their bibs. Ole' crazy Kristi sent those to me and I love them...so cute Kristi! And here's Miss Lane who is a hard one to crack. I have to work really hard to get her to smile - you know, use the annoying high pitched voice. She's starting to chunk up a little bit too and get some meat on her...so cute! The next few pictures are a glimpse into my life. WARNING...DON'T BE JEALOUS. Here's the living room where we spend all of our time when they're not napping. I was getting ready to feed them so they are sitting in the two bouncy chairs. I lean against the ottoman and give them their bottles or prop their bottles up with several blankets. I've got my diaper changing station in front of me and on the fireplace, the swing, the boppy, my daytimer, the phone and remote, and last but not least, a basket full of laundry that needs to be folded. And I know you've greatly missed the self portraits I would do of my pregnant self so I thought I would do another one for you (no side view this time because I don't want you to think I was actually pregnant with triplets and they forgot to take a baby out). These are of me at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. I'm still in the clothes I slept in the night before, my hair is still in the ponytail I slept in that I never bothered to take out and brush, and I still have makeup on from the day before because who has the energy to wash their face at the end of the night? So there you have it, my glamorous life has been exposed!
